Lt Gen surinder Mohan Mehta, AVSM, SM, VSM, and Bar to VSM, has had an illustrious and distinguished career in the Indian Army, spanning four decades. Throughout his 40 years of service, he held numerous key positions and demonstrated exceptional leadership and technical expertise. A decorated soldier and a “techno-warrior,” Gen. Mehta was awarded the Sena Medal for his outstanding contributions during the Kargil War.

As a Brigadier serving in an operational corps during counter-insurgency operations in Jammu and Kashmir, he became the first officer from the Corps of EME (Electronics and Mechanical Engineers) to receive the prestigious Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM) in the Corps’ history. Later, as Additional Director General of his Corps, he oversaw the operational readiness of the Indian Army’s equipment, earning the Bar to the Vishisht Seva Medal for his remarkable contributions.

Rising to the pinnacle of his Corps, Gen. Mehta retired as the Commandant of the Military College of EME and was conferred the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) for his exemplary service to the nation.

Post-retirement in 2014, Gen. Mehta seamlessly transitioned to the social sector, serving as the CEO of one of India’s largest foundations. In this role, he successfully managed funding and monitored operations of over 300 NGOs across 27 states over seven years.

Currently, he continues to contribute his expertise in diverse fields. He serves as the Chairman of Asian Townsville Farms Pvt. Ltd., a real estate company under the Veteran Defence Forces Group, and as Chairman of the IDEA Foundation. Additionally, he holds the position of Director at Sainik Infrastructure India Pvt. Ltd., is the Founder and Director of Roti Kapda Aur Makaan India Pvt. Ltd., and represents the Banyan Foundation as a Trustee.
